Notes: James R. Nail was born on December 17, 1817, in Cumberland County, Tennessee, where Carrie Elizabeth Wilson was born 17 days later. They married on September 20, 1839, moved to Pulaski County, Missouri, and had six daughters. Malinda "Lindy" was the fifth, born in 1849. She was 3 or 4 years old when the family packed their wagon and headed to Oregon Territory. The seventh girl, Josephine, was born in Jackson County on August 2, 1855. They settled on Williams Creek.
