Cabin on George “Deafy” Hall’s homestead claim

Mbhs #: 0927

Year: 1910

Location: Yale Creek

Location 2: Kenney Meadows

Source: Stacy J. Lundgren, Proving Up and Pulling Out (2006)

Notes: Deafy died at his home in Jacksonville before "proving up" under the Forest Homestead Act. Neighbors who brought food believed his brother Joseph withheld it and starved Deafy to death. Joseph took over the claim, which was rejected by the Forest Service.
