Notes: Samuel Edward "Ed" Dunnington brought his family to Southern Oregon in 1885. They initially settled in Uniontown, where daughter Lucy died in 1886 at age 2 of "brain fever." The Dunningtons moved to Jacksonville and Ed acquired the Marble Corner Saloon. After Oregon banned the production and sale of alcohol in 1914, with nationwide Prohibition following two years later, Ed sold "soft drinks, tobaccos, cigars, etc." at the spot, the location of Jacksonville's first business, the 1852 trading post of Kenny & Appler, packers from Yreka. https://www.historicjacksonville.org/scheffels-toys-3/
