Notes: the "Mackey House" at 1167 Dunlap Road, within the homestead of Lewis and Maranda Ann Geary (later the Venable farm). You may recall that Maranda Ann was the daughter of a freed slave, a member of the Mathews wagon train which arrived in 1853 despite territorial law banning blacks. If the information obtained by the County is correct, this c.1863 house may well have been Maranda Ann's home, and/or perhaps that of her mother Susannah (Mask/Mathews) Weeks or aunt Amanda (Mathews) Griffith. See comments for the description of the house (which sadly no longer exists).
