Notes: Hester was born in Springfield, IL in 1840. Family lore says she sat on Abraham Lincoln's lap as a child, when Abe was a rising politician. She married David Pence in 1857. They came to the Forest Creek area in the late 1870s. Hester also lived with her daughter Lottie's family at Palmer Creek, and at Trail where she is buried.
