Notes: A large extended family of Shearers from Clarinda, Page County, Iowa ended up in Jackson County. Jacob Dewitt Shearer (1835-1900) emigrated to the Willamette Valley in the 1870s. Jacob and his wife Nancy, daughter Charlotte, and sons Albert, Henry and Thomas relocated to Steamboat by 1883.
