Notes: This is John W. Pernoll's board and batten store built in 1901 at Applegate Crossing, NOT his father Billy's hewn log store built c1874 2 miles west on the Jacksonville-Crescent City wagon road. Sign on left of store promotes "College Preparatory and Business School" in Ashland which opened Sept. 6, 1909.
