Notes: Orlando Rose was born in Illinois in1849 and rode a horse to Oregon in 1861, his uncle Harve Benedict driving the ox team. At the age of 21 in 1870, Orlando took up a homestead adjacent to Applegate village. By 1910 the farm covered 407 acres. Grain & hay were the main crops.
