The McKee Bridge Quilt 1989

The McKee Bridge Quilt is one of 5 museum-quality quilts designed by artist Evelyn Byrne Williams that celebrate the history of Jackson County.   Evelyn conceived of this quilt as a way to raise funds for the bridge and give supporters an enduring way to show their support.  Each panel depicts a scene from the Upper Applegate’s past.  Evelyn pieced and appliqued the blocks, her mother Pearl McKee Byrne did the quilting, and Palmer Creek neighbor Bonnie Connolly embroidered donors’ names.

It look 2000 hours to complete the quilt.

The McKee Bridge Quilt is displayed in the MBHS Museum Trailer on many weekends at the bridge and at other area events.  The MBHS Board spent 1999-2000 planning to install a permanent and stationary museum, and had even obtained a 12×20′ shingled building, but conceded to the objections of a nearby business owner.  

Undaunted, MBHS volunteers designed and built a mobile trailer from scratch.
